West CAC travelled to the hills of West Durham for the last time this season to take on the females , Debbie Irwin, her daughter Chloe, Shirley Robson and not forgetting the male of Backspin B Alex Nicholl and it was once again a joy to play them.

The match started with Alex beating Chainsaw Kelly in 3 ends, but Magic Mick Redfearn overcame Chloe by 3 games to 0, and then lady of the team known as Debbie showed her fighting spirit by winning a tight match against her very old foe Alan Whitwham over 5 ends, well done Debbie, damn her. Chainsaw Kelly then beat Chloe over 3 ends and then they met again when Chloe teamed up with the ever-young Shirley in the doubles against Chainsaw and Magic Mick, the West pair came out on top winning 3-0. Alex and Debbie won their last 2 games to remain undefeated on the night.

Young Chloe played well against this season’s fall guy Alan and very nearly caused an upset by taking me to 5 ends, during which she played some good shots, but lost 6-11 in the last end, so well played and hard lines. Chloe has come on leaps and bounds this season and with the help and advice from Alex she should make rapid progress and become a force next season, keep on playing Chloe and again well done.

Now for Player of the Match and it was between Debbie and Alex, but there can only be one winner and that goes to Alex Nicholl, so well-done Alex and hard luck Debbie.

So, as we bid farewell to Backspin for another season and look forward to a new dawn and a better season.
