This week West CAC took to the air in the form the Wise Old Owl Mick Redfearn, the Vulture Declan Kelly, and the Golden Eagle Alan Whitwham to face their prey Steve Brown, Gordon Rennie, and Mike Routledge who formed the new team in the league this season Burnmoor Cricket Club B. The game started with Steve losing a tight 5 ender to the Vulture. This was followed by the Wise Old Owl who defeated Mike in 4 games and the next game brought together the Golden Eagle and Gordon and our feathered friend came out on top over 4 ends. The birds of prey continued top when the Vulture picked the bones of Mike to win 3 ends to 1, there was no stopping these creatures. Then came Steve and Gordon in the doubles to clip the wings of the Wise Old Owl and the Golden Eagle despite losing the 1^st end they went on to take the next 3. Was this the end for the birds?, But no it wasn’t. When the Golden Eagle took Steve in 3 ends and the Wise Old Owl took to the air to beat Gordon in 4 ends. The next set was a surprise when Mike brought the Golden Eagle to earth when he won in 3 straight ends and left the Golden Eagle pulling his feathers out of his head. The Vulture won his last game against Gordon and the last set saw Steve show some form when he deservedly overcome the Wise Old Owl to bring the score 7-3 to the West Birds.

The Cricketers put up a good fight and Gordon didn’t win any singles, but he impressed us with his weird shot which won him a lot of points, so well done Burnmoor and good luck for next season.

The Player of the Match was the Vulture, so well-done Declan, but it could have been me, but for Mike.
