West CAC travelled to Houghton-le-Spring to take on Bethany CC, and I must say we’ve have had better nights than this. 10-0 win for the home side was a tad harsh when both Magic Mick and Howard Forster both had 3 sets points against Phil Bowden and Bob Sanderson, but as the old saying goes the games not over till the fat duck sinks, well done to the home players.

The match started with Graham Sleep beating Alan Whitwham in 3 ends, so no change from last season, then Bob had a tough 5 games with Magic Mick before winning the 5^th end 11-4.

The rest of night went downhill for West but was good to see Michael Bowden in doubles when he teamed up with Graham to overcome Magic Mick and not so Magic Alan.

In my defence I always hate playing with orange table tennis balls, but Magic Mick put on a good performance as he did not fell very well all night and had to concede his last match against Graham, but he deserved a medal for bravery.

The Player of the Match was Phil Bowden, so well played that man.
