Match Report

As 3 old men from West CAC fought their way through the wind and the rain to Longovicium on the old Roman Road Dere Street, to play the young lads of Lanchester Aux so it was a battle of the old and the new and just which team would come out on top.

It started badly,  when the old men lost 5 out of the 1st 6 games to the team of Josh Jackman, the unbeaten Billy Lee and Adam Bell. Only the Yorkshire Terrier, after losing the 1st 2 ends to Adam fought back to win the last 3 games. Things were looking bad for us , but then Michael Hepworth inflicted the first defeat of the season on Billy 3 sets to 1, and by some unknown force the very old Alan somehow overcome Adam 3-1, so well done me. The last match of the night was the best when Josh took the 1st 2 ends 11-9, the Yorkshire Terrier won next end 11-5. Josh played well the next end and was 10-8 up only to lose the next 2 points and then he had 3 set points only to fall 15-13, and then the Terrier ran away in the last game 11-3, this was a great performance by both players, so well-done Josh and Michael.

The Player of the Match was given to the Yorkshire Terrier for his never say die display, well played Michael, a great credit to the older men.
