Match Report

After last week’s unacceptable defeat against Brandon Energy I had a cunning plan, just not to let me near the table tennis table and stick me behind the score board.

The Unionist team travelled from South Shields to the banks of the mighty Wear. Their team was Michael Karczewski, the ever-smiling Ray Purves, and the much-improved Trevor Teasdale, and they faced Michael Hepworth, the Yorkshire Terrier,  Declan the Chainsaw Kelly, and for his 1st match for Wild the big man Malcolm Syers.

The Yorkshire Terrier over came Ray in a hard-fought match to win 11-7 in the 5th end, then the Big man found that Michael too strong and lost in 3 ends. Chainsaw Kelly showed his killer instinct by winning 3-0 against Trevor and then Ray beat Malcolm over 4 games to even the scores.

The doubles bought Michael Hepworth and Declan to play Michael Karczewski and Trevor and the Wearsiders  claimed a 3-0 victory. Over the last 5 sets Wild West team won 1 set each and Michael won his last 2 games, so this left the home side 6-4 winners, well played my side, and the cunning plan worked.

Malcolm won his 1st game for us, well done, and Michael and Declan took 2 sets each and the doubles, this was a good team effort, so well played.

The Player of the Match was Michael Karczewski , so well played Michael, who played some great defensive shots throughout the match, a good contest by both sides, and as usual played with good spirit.
