Last night saw a superb match of contrasting styles and a huge age gap, between Racquets Juniors B (Anisha Kant, David Sherwood, Harry Buxton) and Boston Spa Methodists B (David Hovell, Steve Blanchard, John Develly).

After a closley fought contest Juniors B came out victorious 378 -363 - a margin of 15 points, meaning the match was only decided after the very last game.

Every game was close after accounting for the handicaps - Harry coming good in his final match against Steve crucially winning the second game 21-11.

The first game on set the tone for the evening, David and Anisha battling for a 42-42 all draw. The pressure of the 30 handicap weighing on the thoughts of the juniors for the first time in this years competition. 

Every game that followed highlighted the difference in styles, attacking and counter hitting by Anisha, David and Harry against some clever chops, backspins and anti spin play by David, Steve and John. 

The dominating attacking play by all three juniors coupled with some superb serving proved to be the difference, but it was a close run thing and only one point extra per game would have given Boston Spa the win.

Overall, it has to be said that table tennis was the winner - great to see players at both ends of the age spectrum enjoying playing table tennis and it shows what a wonderful game our sport is - age is no barrier.
