Postling Consistency Rising to the Top (by Mike Holiday)

With only four weeks remaining of the Winter Season Postling A have assume their regular position at the top of the league, for a while it looked like being close but back to back wins over their nearest rivals in the last two weeks have made a big difference.

Early pace setters Little Chart B took an impressive win over Postling A earlier in the season, but in the reverse fixture Postling proved too strong. Roy Coles, Malcolm Skates & Nick Owen took on Kevin Beasley, Tom Down & Michelle Kingsland.  The ever consistent Nick Owen maintained his charge to top the singles averages with 3-0 wins over all three opponents.  Malcolm supported with a brace, but lost out to Junior Tom Down in a five leg thriller with the final leg going to Down 11-9.  Malcolm got his revenge by beating Michelle Kingsland 11-8 in the fifth, and seemed in no mood to be distracted by Kevin Beasley unique style win 3-0.  In the final match of the evening committee members Roy Coles & Kevin Beasley went head to head in a friendly but fiercely contested affair with Kevin taking the first leg 11-7 before Roy got into in stride taking the next two 11-9, 11-7 but the ‘relative’ youth told with Beasley surging through 11-9, 11-8 to seal the win and keep the final score down to 6-3.

Following this win Postling went on to face Ruckinge A, and fielding a very strong side the only glimmer of hope came at 1-1 with Charlie Richards beating Malcolm Skates 3-0.  Despite Nick Owen labouring to 5 leg wins over Charlie Richards and Hrvoje Crnko it was all very much one way traffic.  Hat tricks for Nick and Chris Hooper, plus a brace from Malcolm sealed an 8-1 win and spoiled the Ruckinge party.  Prior to the match the Ruckinge club were in pole position for all four divisions; the jury is out as to whether any club has achieved this before!

With Postling 6 points clear at the top the real fight is happening at the opposite end of the division with Iron Room B, Challock B, and Challock A fighting to stay out of the one relegation spot.  Challock B and Iron Room A faced off this week with Mani Khapung sealing a hat trick over Paul Amos, Tim Pichowski and Chris Senior.  This hat trick, along with wins for Paul Waumsley & Shem Lejarde over Chris Senior sealing the five points for a win.  However Paul and Tim from Challock showed their division 1 credentials, both recording wins over Shem and Paul to keep the score to 5-4 to close the gap to Iron Room B who were not in action this week

Elsewhere Challock A scored a vital 5-4 win over Little Chart B with Steve Smith taking a hat trick, and Cliff Ball a brace.  Peter Stevens was unable to add to the score losing to Alan Provan, Michelle Kingsland and Kevin Beasley.  Alan was also able to out hit Cliff Ball but it took five legs and three deuces to achieve!  Unfortunately the other two legs were very much one way traffic for the Little Chart player.
