TROPHY PET FOODS
ASHFORD & DISTRICT CLOSED TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT
9th and 10th March 2019
Johnny Bispham retained his Men's Singles title at the Trophy Pet Foods Ashford table tennis tournament after a hard fought, tense 5 set win against 3rd seed Joe Britnell in the final. The first two sets were shared 11-9, 9-11 before Joe seemed to seize the advantage as he dominated the 3rd game 11-5. However Bispham recovered his composure to take the fourth 11-4 and took the momentum forward to win the final game 11-7.
Bispham also retained the Mixed Doubles title in partnership with Michelle Kingsland defeating 2nd seed Britnell and Jenny Swain in fourth sets. Bispham's weekend also saw him retain the Under 40 singles beating 14 year old Arthur Bracken in 4 games.
However all did not go to plan for Johnny. As reigning Men's Doubles champions Johnny and his father Steve lost in the first round this year to new pairing Arthur Bracken and Hrvoje Crnko.
