Defending champions Bexhill A gained a key 7-3 victory over rivals
Hollington Academy A in Division 1 of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League.
For Bexhill, Lewis Mayhew gained a critical maximum and Rob Warner won two
games while Paul Barry won two for Academy.
Mayhew is unbeaten this season, as is Ritchie Venner of Saints A who maintained his
record in the 10-0 win at Tigers A in which Dave Butler and James Winchester also
won three games.
These results leave Bexhill A, Hollington Academy A and Saints A with all to play
for at the top the table.
James Gorridge’s maximum for Tackleway C helped them secure a 5-5 draw with
Saints B, for whom Mick Hart and John Wond won two apiece.
At the foot of the table Tackleway B are now two points adrift of Tackleway C, after
losing 9-1 to Hollington Academy C. Robin Gibbs and Rose Rainton were unbeaten
and Lisa Standen won two for Academy; Rainton is the third player on 100% in the
top division.
In Division 2, Tackleway D’s 7-3 win at Hollington A was marred by an injury to
Hollington’s Sean Godfrey, the division’s top player, who was unable to complete the
match. Owen Hatter was unbeaten for the winners.
Hollington Academy D snatched a 6-4 win at Tackleway F with a maximum for
Kevin Barry and two from Ryan Heselden while Peter Wilson won two for
Tackleway.
NALGO A edged past Saints D 6-4 thanks to a comfortable maximum from Paul
Hyland. Claire Bridges won two for Saints, who almost got the draw when Paul
Davis lost 12-10 in the fifth to Mick Lane.
The leading teams in Division 3 had comfortable wins with Bexhill F (Harvey Webb,
Diane Webb and Malcolm Glover) beating Hollington C 10-0 without the loss of a
game.
Six points in arrears, Monarchs beat Hollington D with Peter Harding and Dave
Turnbull unbeaten and Andrew Edwards winning two.
In a much tighter contest, Saints E’s Neil Pankhurst’s maximum was in vain as two
wins each for Amelia Long and Ken Philcox secured a 5-5 draw for Hollington B.
