The match of the week in Division One of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League was at Bexhill where Bexhill C and Hollington Academy B fought out a 5-5 draw. Graham Gillett’s maximum was key for the home team while Rose Rainton and Sam Collins both won two for the Academics, with two of the visitors’ wins coming at deuce in the decider.

Bexhill G won a critical relegation battle with Bexhill B at 6-4, taking control after the B side led 3-2. Andy Summers and John Ellis (B) and Cameron Jones and Kevin McEwan (G) all won twice.

Bexhill A won 9-1 at Tackleway A with Rob Warner and David Rayment unbeaten and Bob Lowe winning two. It was closer than the scoreline indicates with Bexhill winning three of the four sets which went the distance.

Hollington Academy A continued their serene progress at the top with an 8-2 defeat of Tackleway C in which Paul Barry and Basher Obeyed were unbeaten.

With both sides below strength, Hollington Academy C beat Saints B 7-3 with Nick Standen winning three and Scott Bills two. Adam Keen, on his first appearance of the season, won two for Saints.

 

In Division Two, leaders Tigers A recorded their fifth 6-4 win in ten matches against a strong Bexhill D lineup. Chris Woods and Roger Smith both won two for Tigers as did Bexhill’s Brian Beaney.

NALGO A came from 2-3 down to win 7-3 at Tackleway E with Paul Hyland, Mick Lane and Mike Courtnage all winning two. Dave Wilson won twice for the losers.

Maximums from Ryan Warner and Pam Winter led Bexhill E to an 8-2 win over Tackleway D.

 

In Division Three, Saints C won 9-1 at NALGO B with Paulette Clarke and Andy Murphy unbeaten and two wins for Danny Gurden.

In a re-arranged match with four juniors involved, Tackleway G beat Hollington D

7-3 with maximums for fourteen-year-old Zac Allen and Kevin Bignell for the winners.

Tackleway F won 8-2 at Willett & Phillips where Steve Milton was unbeaten and Kevin Eastman and Doug Bick won two as did Sue Clarke for the losers.
