Leaders Saints A had a key victory in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Division One when they edged out third-placed Bexhill A 6-4. For Saints, Dave Butler was unbeaten and James Winchester won two while David Rayment won twice for the losers. Leading 3-2, Butler and Winchester took the doubles 11-9 in the fifth game before Bexhill recovered to 4-5. Winchester then beat Robert Warner, also at 11-9 in the fifth to clinch the win.

Hollington Academy A trail by three points after Bashar Ubaid, Nathan Darby and Ryan Heselden beat Tackleway B 10-0 to open up a four point gap over Bexhill A.

Both teams have a game in hand on the leaders.

Mike Funnell, Roy Funnell and Gina Rogers all won twice for Tackleway A who beat Hollington Academy D 7-3. Stacey Furnival won two for the losers.

 

In Division Two Saints B doubled their lead to two points with maximums from Jamie Martin and Andy Syrett in an 8-2 defeat of Bexhill F.

Second-placed Tackleway C dropped a point, beating Tackleway E 7-3, where Adrian Goodrum won three and Dan Rickaby and Kevin Rowe both won twice.

Mike Charter won two for the E side.

Steph Sargent’s return strengthened Hollington A who won 7-3 at NALGO A. Shaun Godfrey’s maximum kept him at the top of the averages while Kevin Barry won two for Hollington. Nalgo’s Paul Hyland won two, and his defeat of Barry in the final set of the match gained Nalgo a point and was Barry’s second defeat of the season.

Tigers A beat Tackleway D 7-3 with Dave Mitchell unbeaten and Roger Smith winning two while Alan Blackman won two for Tackleway.

 

Tigers B move up to third in Division Three after a 7-3 win over Tackleway G. Keith Lindsay’s maximum for Tackleway was not enough as Chris Floyd, Andy Holmes and John Campbell all won two for Tigers.

Saints C are putting distance between themselves and the rest of the division. They beat Bexhill I 8-2 with three from Dave Watters and two each for Andy Murphy and Danny Gurden. Jim Leppard won two for Bexhill
