At the end of the year in the Hastings & District Junior Table Tennis League there is little to choose between the teams in Division One, partly because of the number of games postponed.

Fiery Balls lead on sets difference despite having played only twice. Their start to the season was fraught, needing to take the doubles to see off Lucky Edges 3-2 thanks mainly to a maximum from Jonah Davies.

Joining Davies on 100% is Tristan Hyland of Unbelievable Tekkers, who lost their first match 3-2 to bottom side TT Demons when Hyland was unbeaten but the Demons took a three-set doubles for the win.

The Tekkers won their other two matches, including a winning doubles display to clinch a 3-2 win over Balls of Fury.

Balls of Fury did better against TT Demons, securing a 4-1 win with a maximum from Georgia Ferguson but her team went down by the same scoreline to Lucky Edges for whom Simona Dyulgerova was unbeaten.

Reece Lincoln and Kai Potter both won twice in Bangers & Smash’s 5-0 win over TT Demons in a game which was far from one-sided as all four singles went to a third set.

Kelsey Burgess suffered for Demons, losing twice at deuce in the decider.

Sacha Ward of Awesome Blaze is the third unbeaten player in Division One after edging out Dyulgerova 12-10 in the third to clinch a 3-2 win over Lucky Edges.

In Division Two, Backspinners (Archie Warmington and Oliver Tippett) lead the table after four wins from five matches. This included a 3-2 defeat of The Smashers, despite a maximum from Ryan Humphreys for the losers and an identical scoreline against Balls of Steel, for whom Josh Frazer won twice.

Backspinners’ crucial defeat came at the hands of second-placed Tabletoppers who won 4-1 with Arun Selby unbeaten. Tabletoppers have won all three of their matches and have Selby on 100% and Grady-Lee Palmer, beaten only once at the hands of Warmington.

At the foot of the table Ping Pong Wizards moved ahead of Double Trouble with a 4-1 win with a maximum for Molly Rickaby.
