The League has just three more scheduled weeks of matches to go, following this week's Wren Cup / Plate semi-finals (which Geoff will update about, soon), including the Wren Finals in 2 weeks' time.
Division 1 - The title seems to be very much in the hands of Adeyfield 1st, who have built up a 20 point lead, with just three matches remaining, with Flamstead 1st now set to break the long duopoly at the top, as Crown & Sceptre 1st can no longer catch them. Not too far back, St. George's 1st and Adeyfield A are battling it out for 4th/5th positions. At the foot of the table, Row have found it a very tough season, but above them, there is still a battle on for Northchurch 1st and Crown & Sceptre A, with C&S A holding a 6 point margin, with just two more matches each, one of which is the teams playing each other.
Division 2 - This remains a battle all the way to the wire. Crown & Sceptre B have regained the lead (I've now lost count of how many times the lead has changed hands), by just 2 points from Adeyfield C, and a further 1 point from Adeyfield B, whilst Flamstead A have a match in hand against bottom team, Northchurch A, and a 10-0 win would put them level at the top. McAlpine are close in 5th, but it looks like time is running out for them to catch the top four. Of the top four, Flamstead A have the easier remaining fixtures (on paper), so are probably still favourites to finish top, but .. every point will count, and it will undoubtedly go to the last match for the final positions to be determined. At the other end of the table, Northchurch A and Crown & Sceptre C are now too far adrift to avoid relegation, leaving St. George's A safe in 6th place.
Division 3 - Flamstead C are the first team to claim a title, with their impressive record of 18 wins and one draw. Leverstock Green are in position to finish as runners-up, in just their second season, although Flamstead B could still catch them if they should stumble. Northchurch C and Highfield look set to battle it out for 4th/5th, with new team, Adeyfield D, in 6th place, above Northchurch B and Crown & Sceptre D.
Table Tennis 365 (TT365) - As some of you may be aware, Table Tennis England (TTE) and TT365 have failed to come to an agreement about renewing TT365's provision/support of their League Manager system, which we have used (provided 'free' to Leagues and Clubs, as part of the TTE Membership) for the last eight years. TTE have promised that a new system (from Sport:80 / Rocca Creative) will be made available in time for next season, although that seems an incredibly tight timescales for such a complex system? Meanwhile, TT365 have made a proposal to Leagues, to continue to use their system, at a charge (of £7 per player). Supporters of TT365 have tabled a Proposal to the TTE AGM, to cut the TTE Membership Fee by this same amount, to effectively allow the continued use of TT365 at no *additional* cost to players / Leagues. Whether this passes at the TTE AGM (29th June), or not, will probably decide the fate of TT365. We have a Hemel Committee Meeting on Monday (15th April) to discuss this, and more information will be made available following the meeting, but some of you may well already have seen various communications, from TTE, and/or TT365, each with "their side" of the story. Our own AGM takes place on 4th June, by which time, more information may be known. Watch this space ..
Meanwhile .. Happy Easter.
