The two teams started on exactly level points, although McAlpine were unfortunately short of their third player on the night. The visitors started well, however, as XinJun Wang beat Marius Puczynski in four games, despite Mariusz blitzing the 2nd leg 11-1 with a barrage of fierce hits, and Youguang Pan followed up with a five games win over Trevor McFarlane in a topsy turvy set, just edging the decider 11-9. McAlpine were denied drawing level overall, though, as despite XinJun going two games to one up against Martin Johnson, Martin found his hits to take it in five legs. Mariusz increased the home advantage with a win in four legs against Youguang, but XinJun beat Trevor in four legs, despite dropping the opener. In the final singles, Martin beat Youguang, again over four legs, making it 6-3 to the home team. McAlpine backed up their good record in doubles, to win in straight games, so limited the loss to 6-4.
