Adeyfield B   4 - 6   Northchurch A

Adeyfield B pulled a little ahead in 3rd place, despite just losing out to 5th placed Northchurch A, who thus opened a slight gap on 6th placed Crown & Sceptre C. Events started off very close, with home team's Martin Johnson versus Bronwen Watson for Northchurch A, as the first four games were all deuce, but at two games all, Martin finally strung a few winning hits together, to edge the home team ahead. Northchurch then took four in a row, although the second set was almost an action replay of the first, as jet-lagged Roger Dean and Frank Manfield shared two more deuces, before Frank won through in four games, and yet another deuce in the 4th! Mariusz Puczynski and Matt Rogers were not to be left out, and an 11-9 and then another deuce, saw Matt go two-nil up, and whilst Mariusz took the 3rd, Matt powered through to win in four. Roger took the opening game in the next set, with the 9th deuce in 15 games, but Bronwen took charge from then on. Matt continued his good form, to edge out Martin in three close legs, inevitably including another deuce, plus an 11-9. The home team pulled one back as Mariusz edged past Frank in three tight games, including (you've guessed it) yet another deuce, plus an 11-9 ! Matt completed his hattrick and put Northchurch 5-2 up as he comfortably beat Roger. Mariusz and Martin then pulled in back to 5-4, against Bronwen and Frank, respectively. The home team appeared to be on course to level things up, as after a loss at deuce in the first games, they took the next two well, however, it was yet another two deuces to end the evening, both going the way of Northchurch A, to give them the win on the night.
