   Crown & Sceptre B   5 - 5   Adeyfield B

Division 2 leaders, Crown & Sceptre B, remained unbeaten, but had to settle for their second draw of the season against equal 3rd placed Adeyfield B.  Despite this, they extended their lead at the top by a point, as 2nd placed Flamstead A were going down 6-4 to Adeyfield C.

Back to this match, and it was visitors Adeyfield B who started the stronger, as Martin Ford looked very sharp in beating Colin Tibbles, comfortably in three games. The next set up proved to be a bit of an epic, as Martin Johnson took the first game off Alan Jones, only for Alan to hit back and take the next two games, but Martin took the fourth, to take it to the almost inevitable decider. It was nip and tuck all the way, with nothing to choose between them, with each player trying to get in with their attack. However, the points racked up and up, and set points came and went, yet neither player could seem to administer that final blow, until finally ... Martin eventually got the winner to edged home at an amazing 20-18 in the final game! The home team immediately exacted revenge, however, winning the next three sets, two of them at deuce in the fourth game, as Aidan Walsh just beat Trevor McFarlane, Alan just beat Martyn, and then Colin squeaked home at 14-12 in the fifth against Trevor, to take the home team into a 3-2 lead! Another five leg set saw Martin just beat Aidan in a see saw encounter, alternating fortunes, but Martin just serving his way to another close win. The home team pulled ahead, once again, as Alan beat Trevor in four, then Aidan played really well for a four games win over Martyn. Martin dropped the second game against Colin, but completed his maximum with yet another deuce game completing the victory. He then teamed up with Martyn in the doubles to take it in four close games against Alan & Aidan, and so clinch the draw.
