In the first division Amlwch A is crowed as champions with a game to spare following a 30-4 victory over Police A. Maximums were achieved by both Paul Collins and Ian Ault. Keith Williams dropped one game to Brian Cooke, Roger Lee and James Wan. Rhyl A is the runners-up, this was sealed by a 28-11 victory over Llandudno. Eliot Platt won his singles but was taken to the fifth by Andy Lunt. However, the best performance was produced by John Hughes playing his first match in the topflight. He blew away Andy Luntin three straight games before beating both Steve Nicholls and Rob Walker in tense five-game encounters. Andy Lunt produced the only Llandudno win on the night beating David Daniels. Henllan A beat Amlwch B29-9, with Paul Hulme dropping just one game and Melvyn Booker two in their singles games. The two closet games of the night went to a fifth game deciders. In these encounters Jonny Hughes beat Ben Sutcliffe 11-9 but lost out to Emyr Owen by the same score. Jonny continues to improve and beat Matthew Winnett over four games. It was a nice end to the first season back after lockdown with Amlwch B being the first visiting team to come for a drink after the match, discussing the evenings’ key points and previous table tennis exploits.
In the second division Craig-y-don A secured at least runners-up honours by beating two-man Y Morfa C 29-6. Both Ady Waugh and Tom Bird completed maximums to maintain their third and fourth placings in the individual standings. Mike Trbojevic representing Y Morfa B beat Ross Lander in a five-game thriller but lost out in another five-game battle in the doubles with his partner Dave Meadows. Henllan B is well placed to overhaul Trinity B for a third placed finish after beating Craig-y-don B 26-8. Both Don Grigg and Chris Watkins won their singles dropping just one game on the night. The tightest encounter witnessed Keith Potterovercoming John Lovegrove in a fifth game decider. Billy Hayes provided the second Craig-y-don B win beating John in three straight games. Police B look destined for fifth position in the league, this week they beat Rhyl C 30-4. Peter Roberts lies fifth in the individual standings following another maximum. Taylor Tabner took a game from both Alan Lavery and Nigel McLaughlin.
