NEWS - WEEK EIGHT

In the first division, Amlwch A move to the top of the table following a 30-2 victory over previously unbeaten Police A. The two-man Police A team could not extract a game from the champions. This ensured maximums for Paul CollinsKeith Williams and Ian AultJames Wan and Brian Cooke fared better in the doubles winning the first two games before losing out in a five-game encounter

Henllan A are fourth despite losing both games this week. Firstly, Henllan A went down 16-23 to Rhyl B, where both Chris Markey and John Hughes won all of their singles and teamed up to land the doubles. Tight five-game wins were executed by John Hughes at the expense of Paul Hulme and Chris Markey over Jonny Hughes. The doubles victory was by a 16-14 again in the fifth. Henllan A also travelled to Llandudno but lost in one of the tightest matches of the season 21-22. Graham Heath proved to be the strongest player on the night winning all his singles dropping just two games. The five game encounters produced wins for Andy Lunt over both Paul Hume and Jonny Hughes, with Jonny prevailing in another against Steve Nicholls. The doubles also went to fifth game which Henllan A won. After nine matches it was 19-19, but Andy beat Paul 3-2 to win the match. 

Y Morfa A are in fifth spot, this week beating Craig-y-don A 19-13 with the help of an Andy Horton maximum and through Rob Stanway winning two matches. However, Tom Bird beat both Rob and Jason Coe in three-straight games. Ross Lander and Ady Waugh won their first matches in the top-flight at the expense of Jason Coe.

In the second division the cream has come to the top, Amlwch B beat third-placed Trinity B 28-4. Maximums here for both Reg John and Andrew LloydBen Sutcliffe beat both Robert Stewart and John Lovegrove but lost his first game of the season, to Trinity A'Andrew Chamberlain.

Police B lie second after a 24-8 victory over Amlwch C, here Peter Roberts secured a maximum. Nigel McLaughlin and Stan Wan both won two games each both losing out to Emyr Owen. The closest match witnessed Charlie Hadcock losing out 9-11 in the fifth to Nigel McLaughlin.

Y Morfa B is up to fourth, they readily outpointed Craig-y-don B 27-5. David Meadows achieved a maximum and Mike Trbojevic won his singles, dropping just the one game to David StrangeDave Strange beat George Wooley in three- straight games in the sole Craig-y-don B victory on the night.

Henllan C continue with their good run, this week beating Rhyl C 24-15. Josh Parry produced another maximum and Don Grigg was involved in three five-game battles, he beat Andy Chambers but lost out to both Taylor Tabner and Marcus Wilton-Jones. Maria Lafferty won her second match of the season at the expense of Andy Chambers but lost out over five-games to Taylor Tabner.
