News - Week Three

In the first division, Rhyl A top the league following a 29-7 victory over Henllan AEliot Platt and David Daniels dropped just one game to Sean Lucas and Paul Hulme respectively. They also teamed up to win the doubles in three straight games. Paul Hulme overcame Glen Phoenix 15-13 in the fifth game but Glen squeezed passed Melvyn Booker 12-10 in another five game encounter.

Police A lie second after beating Craig-y-don A 21-14. Tom Bird representing Craig-y-Don A won all his singles matches including five-game win over Tony Wan and four-game victory over Brian Cooke. Tom also teamed up with Ross Lander to secure the doubles in three straight games. However, Police A won all the remaining singles with Ged Haresnapesnatching a game from both Tony and James Wan.

Llandudno lie third despite losing out narrowly to Rhyl B 17-18. John Hughes won all his singles dropping a game to Andy Lunt. John paired up with Chris Markey to secure a further three points without reply. The closest encounter witnessed Andy Lunt beating Chris Markey 11-8 in the fifth. Rob Walker beat Fred Moore 3-0 but it was not enough to save the match.

Y Morfa A beat Trinity A 26-12. Andy Horton overcame Stuart Dearden over five games. The doubles also went the way of Y Morfa A 14-12 in the fifth game decider. Chris Henderson and Jason Coe both beat Eddie Chan and John Lovegrove and took a game from Stuart.

In the second division, Police B lie at the top of the table following 21-10 win over Craig-y-don B in their first match of the season. Peter Roberts remains unbeaten dropping just one game to Bridget Prescott. But Meirion Williams proved the strongest player achieving a singles and doubles maximum. Bill Wells, Dave Strange and Bridget all overcame Rebecca Evans.

Amlwch B remain second despite playing a game less this also applies to unbeaten third placed Henllan B who beat Rhyl C 30-4. A maximum for Don Grigg, with Chris Watkins and Iain McGillivray dropping just one game to Taylor Tabnerand Marcus Wilton-Jones respectively. The double went to a fifth game decider with Henllan B again coming out on top. 

Trinity B overcame Y Morfa B 23-19 with no one player dominating. Rob Stewart representing Trinity B was involved in two five-game battles he overcame Steven Davies but lost out to David Meadows. All the other parings were four-game affairs in a tightly fought match. Both Alan Hopper and John Lovegrove secured seven points for Trinity B a feat matched David Meadows

Henllan C secured their first victory at the expense of Amlwch C 23-14. Ciaran Lucas and Josh Parry won their singles dropping one and two games respectively. They teamed up to narrowly win the doubles over five games. Maria Laffey gained her first points of the season taking a game from both Charlie and Mark Hadcock.
