Refreshments

The most common question was that of refreshments being provided at matches. We've ruled that since we can't guarantee each team has the same number of home matches, teams should be responsible for their own refreshments and not that of the opposition.
I'd personally encourage you all to bring along refreshments for your team so that, in line with tradition, you can share a quick bite and perhaps a cake while recapping the match. Obviously, if teams would prefer not to then that's fine, but by making teams responsible for their own, it ensures a fair distribution of cost. TLDR: If your team would like refreshments, bring them along!

Cost

The LBCS League Committee have decided that this Handicap competition will be part of the League's 30 Year Anniversary Activities.  As such there will be no entry fees and the costs (venue and trophies) will covered from League funds. (NB. Any additional medals etc requested by teams will be chargable as is normal with the annual league competition)

Rules Based Questions

Is there a coin toss at the start of each match? Yes, each match will have a coin toss as normal where the winner can elect to serve or which end to start at.
Will a player always have 5 serves? One quirk of the handicap system is that it is possible to win the toss and choose to serve, but actually have as few as one service point in your first run of serving. For example if the match started at 9-0, the person serving first in the set would serve the point at 9-0 resulting in either 10-0 or 9-1, at which point service would switch as the total points is divisible by 5 (as per standard 21 up rules).
Can a 2 player team win? In the same way that a 2 player team can win a standard league match, a 2 player team can win a handicap cup match. It simply means the team with 2 players essentially starts 3-0 and would need to win 5 of their 6 singles to win the match.

Handicaps

Just as a reminder, I'll be sending through the handicaps for tomorrow night's matches to the relevant captains at around midday tomorrow. You'll receive both your team's handicaps, as well as your opponent's. Worst case, I'll have them all with me tomorrow night!
