Match Report
Good evening all, a very strange evening and match but very enjoyable, I think!
It started as you might expect with three wins for Castaways though two of them went to four which might have signalled things to come.
Game four and George and Johnny went head to head in a five setter and George ran out the winner, Karma on the way back?
Game five and Terry and Bing came to the table and Terry was unsettled by Bing’s style, a definite clash, and despite Terry saving five match points from five down in the third then another seven from 10-8 down in the fourth Bing finally managed to convert the seventeenth, after saving a few leg points himself, running out a 21-19 winner – longest leg so far surpassing what had happened on the next table in the PRO v Comets game?
Game six was another epic struggle when Neil went two legs down to Xavier whose tomahawk forehand serve was completely flummoxing Neil. He finally managed to get to grips with Xavier’s game in the third and then pressed home his recovery to take the next two games.
The match then took a very strange turn with the next three games all being reeled off three straight to put Castaways in a commanding 7-2 position.
What price the game turning again? It did of course with a very strange five set doubles that inevitably went to DitF and Castaways just sneaking it 12-10 (after 11-4 5-11 8-11 11-2) to secure an 8-2 win.
Once more the Speaker Pub entertained quite a few players from the evening’s matches and pints were drank whilst the games were, as usual, dissected in minute detail!
Onwards and its yet again great to be back!
