Match Report

PRO went 2-1 up and were looking good for an upset which they did eventually get though not enough to take the win with three five leggers win being not quite enough.

Pete struggled in the first game against Ronnie having played last night and had been up ladders doing gutters – he really needs to learn to say no at some point. Ronnie took full advantage and with his full share of luck (is it luck when it happens consistently in every game he played?) won the game in the fifth 18-16 after a marathon deuce.

Mike made short work of George and then Jai and Neil renewed their battle for pride and although it went to five Jai won out again for the second time in the season.

In what turned out to be a vital game Pete managed to beat George in four having lost the fourth and only won the second 13.

There followed a run of three straight games, unfortunately for PRO, all to Castaways, Neil over Ronnie; Mike over Jai; and Neil over George; taking the match score to 5-2.

There followed another vital game with Jai and Pete going head-to-head, somehow Pete managed to pull out a win eight in the fifth to secure the match win.

Ronnie and Mike then fought out a four legger and although Mike took the first leg on his way to a possible maximum Ronnie came back to win.

That brought up the doubles and with George having gone after his last singles and Pete deciding enough was enough Ronnie and Jai took on Mike and Neil. Castaways went two nil down but came back to level it two all. The fifth leg swung back in PRO’s favour to make the loss just four six and ensure they finished fifth in front of Karma whilst Castaways only need three points from their last match (plus the three points bonus) to take runners up away from Nar West in the last match of the season, a season which has been short but seems quite long on reflection.

Roll on the next one!
