Match Report

Match report

NSY Comets A fielded Cain Fagan, Laikram Persaud, and Ian Francis.

PRO fielded George Buck, Jai Persaud, and Ronnie Turner.
John Crawford messaged me to say that Ronnie was going to be late, because he finished work at 6pm.

Anyway, the Comets team made a good start on the first two sets with Cain vs George and Laikram vs Jai, both winning 3-0 without breaking a sweat.

At that time, Ronnie was still travelling to the Abbey Centre from work, so PRO agreed to continue playing. For this reason, the match was played out of order. The next sequence was Ian vs George, where the result was another 3-0 win to the Comets.
Still no show from Ronnie , so the next one was Cain vs Jai, where Jai took a leg off Cain and the result was 3-1 to Cain.
Still there was no sign from Ronnie, so it was Laikram vs George and the result was another 3-0 win to the home team.

Finally, Ronnie turned up at the Abbey Centre and he was raring to go, so it was Ian vs Ronnie, but Ian was no mercy and he did not give Ronnie time to settle and it was a convincing 3-0 win to Ian.

Ronnie was so disappointed that he did not perform well, so he decided to play the next one, which was against Cain. Ronnie started brilliantly by winning the first two legs. Cain was caught by surprise, so he recouped in the next leg and played more aggressively. There were some nervy moments from both players. However, Cain managed to hold his nerves and won 3-2. Unlucky Ronnie!

The remaining matches (including the doubles) were business as usual for the home team, all winning 3-0.
It was quite competitive, yet very entertaining and there were some spectacular rallies from both sides. The match finished at 9pm, which was well ahead of the other two matches that were still going on.

Regards,

Winston
