Match Report

A day less than a year for the same match last season the teams lined up with Johnny and Neil for that match and Chris H and Adam for Natwest.  The changes were Gareth for Chris P and Norman for Mike.

The first game saw a reverse from last season with Adam beating Neil in four after losing in five last season.
1-0 to Natwest the same as last season.

There were then routine 3-0 wins for Johnny over Chris H and Norman over Gareth – a first win for Norman for the season.

There was then a pivotal match between Johnny and Adam. A cracking nip and tuck match which went the distance, but Johnny won out to make up for the loss in the same fourth game last season when he lost in five against Chris P and in four to Adam.

There then followed one of those games where styles and confidence crashed together,
Neil against Gareth. Gareth raced into a one leg lead and then should have made it two but from 10-7 up somehow managed to lose it 12-10. The next leg was 11-3 and surely it was now over in the fourth, but no Gareth came back again to take it 6-11. All to play for in the fifth but Neil took the lead and never lost it to win 11-6 in the fifth.
Match score 4-1.

Norman then took on Chris H and put up a valiant fight but lost three straight.

Johnny then showed no regard for Gareth’s pimples and won three straight without any issues to record a maximum.
Not to be outdone Adam then did the same with Norman conceding only 6 points and doubling his score of 1 last season.

With the score at 5-3 to Castaways the match was balanced and what was always going to be a deciding singles to come.,
Neil and Chris H. Chris decided this was a match that could only be won by all-out attack, and it came close to succeeding but in the final count Neil won out 3 straight to make the score 6-3.

This brought us to the doubles and the five-year unbeaten pair (save one loss) of Johnny and Neil against Adam and Chris. N west took the first leg but then Castaways never looked back winning 3-1 to make the match score 7-3 compared to a 5-5 draw last season.

However, above all else, an excellent match between six friends making it a very social match which then continued for Castaways and Gareth in the Speaker afterwards. Photo to follow!
