Match Report

The result was never in doubt, but the scoreline may raise a few eyebrows. Outside of three draws, Comets form has been imperious, brushing all teams aside 9-1 or 10-0. Taking the positives, an 8-2 loss looks an impressive result for PRO.

The opening match of the evening saw me quickly despatched by Steve 3 straight. His lightening fast all out attacking game was just too much for me.

George had another difficult night, not winning a game and averaging just over 4.5 points per game.

And so to new kid on the block, Oliver Pink, brought in at short notice, replacing Jai who was sick. A baptism of fire, having to play Laikram in his opening match. Laikram came though comfortably. losing just 11 points in in the process.

Much the same for me against Laikram. I won more points in the opening game than I did in the next three, but I did pick up our first game of the evening.

Fortunes began to turn for us in the sixth match of the evening with Oliver up against Winston. After three very close games ending with Winston ahead 2-1, Oliver won the fourth to draw level. Vey much a ding dong battle ensued in the final game. Oliver raced into a 6-2 lead, Winston countered to go ahead 7-6, and then what so inexplicably happens in these matches, Oliver reeled off the final 4 points to win the match.

With Laikram and Steve winning all three, it was an indifferent night for Winston, as he also lost, surprising 3 straight to me. One for the record books, as believe it's the first time I have ever beaten Winston since way back before the merger with the Banks League.

With two precious points secured,  we could afford George a rare outing in the doubles.
