Match Report

Did hell freeze over last night or did PRO actually win more sets than Comets A (yes Comets A) in a single night?

On a night when records were set for both Ronnie and George, you'll find the latter to be true.

Comets B must have been struggling to field a team as Allam was their only B team player. Adil was playing up from the C team and was joined by Anoop, drafted in at the last minute to replace a sick David Adesanya.

All matches played out of order shown in brackets. Because of his last minute replacement,
Anoop wouldn't be arriving until after 8 pm.

Ronnie arrived in time to play the 5th match with the score evenly balanced at 2-2.
Things were not going well for him as he found himself 1 game down and 10-7 down in the second. As always seems to happen in these matches he won the next 5 points to draw level and then moved on to win the next 2 games and the match. With momentum on his side he then swept away Adil in the next match 3 straight.

With the score standing at 4-2 in PRO's favour, up stepped Anoop to play his first match of the evening against George. You may remember that George had previously beaten Anoop 3-0, albeit two were deuce games, so nothing was certain here.
George started the better, racing ahead 8-2, then inexplicably lost 11-8 and the next by the same scoreline. All seemed lost, but George managed to win the last 3 games.  You'll need to get out the record books for this one, but when was the last time George had more than one win in a season?

To give Anoop a mini-break and because Allam wanted to leave early we agreed to play the doubles next.
With 3 very close middle games PRO finally won in the 5th.  Only the second 5-setter of the evening.

The last two singles both went PRO's way to record an impressive 8-2 victory. This was Ronnie's first maximum of the season.
