Match Report
A strange match in many ways with six (easy) three straights but then two four leggers and two five leggers.
Castaways ran out 9-1 winners and to be fair the win was never in doubt only the magnitude.
The first two were regulation three straight wins for Johnny over Jai and Neil over George but then Pete arrived and went straight on against Jai and won the first to 9 but then it went wrong for Pete with Jai hitting and making everything he went for winning the next two seven and five. Pete fought back .and won the fourth to six. The fifth was nip and tuck but when Pete took a nine seven lead it looked like the end for Jai but no, he managed to win the next four points for a first ever win over Peter.
Johnnie then played Ronnie in a see saw of a match nil one, one one, two one, two two. Johnny managed to get into a lead and won the fifth to seven.
Pete then had a routine win over George and Neil then played Ronnie, a match which has swung both ways in the past and this was the usual tight match. Ronnie won the first on deuce and then Neil returned the favour. Neil then took the next two eight and eight but it could easily have gone the other way.
Johnny then had a routine three straight over George and Neil then took on Jai, a match Jai has won before but not on this occasion though having lost the first two legs to five and six Jai took the third to nine. Was a recovery on the cards, unfortunately for ai it wasn’t to be Neil took his maximum winning to six.
The last game saw Pete take on Ronnie, one of the shock results from last season when Ronnie won out. However, it wasn’t to be this time with Pete taking a fairly comfortable three straight win.
That just left the doubles and it was another three straight for Castaways though they did throw away an 8-1 lead to go nine eight down but then recovered to win to nine.
The result confirms Castaways finishing in third place with one game to go against (fourth place) Nat West next week.
