Match Report
Cracking match, very competitive with some excellent performances. Pete managed a maximum but possibly tougher than the scores looked.
Adam probably the star on the night taking Terry’s 100% and then also beating Neil, his all-out attack coming good in both instances.
Neil managed a couple though only with a few deuces and the only five legger singles of the evening against Matt.
Terry had a tough night and you’d probably have to look a long way back in the records to find the last time he lost two in one evening.
Matt was in great form and almost had the come-back game of the evening when having been 9-2 down in the fifth came back to 9-9 before just losing out. However, his “wall” defence proved too good for Terry so earning his team a point.
Max was the unlucky one on the night, after two deuces in his first game against Neil things unfortunately went downhill.
The doubles turned into a tense affair having at first looked as though Morpeth would take it in three Castaways fought back to level it at 2 a piece but the fifth leg proved a bit of a damp squib and Morpeth took it with some ease.
A 6-4 win which probably damages Castaways aspirations more than it affects Morpeth C’s probable mid-table finish.
Again, a cracking match with a very agreeable post-match discussion in the Speaker, great to have a couple of twenty somethings joining us old-timers for this traditional finish to matches at the Abbey.
