Match Report

Boxley have finished the season with two good wins, last week against Rainham 2, and this week Rainham 3, and finish 6th in the table where they have been most of the season. With Jim Davie once again unable to take his place in the hosts' line up due to injury, he was on tea and cheer leading duty as son Tim, Jazz Plaha and Steve Hayes (playing up from the 5th string) did battle with Boxley's usual trio of Gary Hentschel, Lyndon Gurr and Barry Roles. The visitors' 7-3 triumph mean that Rainham finish in 2nd bottom position just one point behind their 2nd string. Jazz beat Hentschel in 4 legs and held off a fightback from Gurr in an entertaining last singles' action of the evening but lost to Roles who recorded his 2nd hatrick of the season. Tim beat Hentschel (11-6 in the 5th) for Rainham's 3rd point. Steve performed well on his step up to Div One showing good use of the drop shot and took Gurr to a deciding leg, before the Boxley Captain prevailed for his 2nd win on the night.
