Cumberland made up for their 10.0 drubbing the previous week with a fine 6,4 victory. They were helped by Dean Chipperfield who picked up a maximum even though Alex Clarke & Roger Morley gave him a scare winning a couple of between them. The latter was in excellent form for Howard, beating Trevor Towers and even more impressive, Jamie Somerset, to register a brace. Trevor Towers took a two leg lead over Robert Jarazoynski before the Howard player fought back to win 11,9 in the fifth.  The doubles was won by Howard to make the scoreline more respectable
