Match Report

A narrow victory for luton, who were made to fight by a spirited Sturdee 1. Not one player managed a maximum with Will Wrapson, Terry Clapperton and Ross Childs all picking up braces. The latter was exceptional in the first match in taking out Wayne Youngs, 11,8 in the fifth and Dave Bonner three straight in his other victory and looked on course for a brilliant treble in taking the first two legs against Tim Vaughan but the sturdee player is a great fighter and so it proved in coming back to win 11,9 in the decider. Tim was involved in another marathon against  Terry Clapperton but the Luton player is in outstanding form and just edged it 12,10 at the death. Will Wrapson and Dave Bonner also played out another fifth setter with the former just getting over the line, 11,9 in the fifth. Wayne Youngs put the disappointment of losing to Ross Childs aside, to brush past both Will Wrapson and Terry Clapperton in four legs, for two great wins.
Sturdee surprisingly won the doubles easily to make the defeat less severe.
