After 4 weeks of the Northumbria Summer League only 3 points separate the top 3 teams in division 1. The all Cramlington match between Casuals and Stingers resulted in an 8-2 victory for Casuals. This puts them at the top of the division with 27 points followed by Stingers in second place with 25 points. Springwell CC “A” beat Riding Mill 9-1 to take them into third place with 24 points. John Williamson won his 3 singles whilst Dave Pringle was player of the match winning all his sets including the doubles with Alex Smith. Still in division 1, Seaburn Dene and StChads shared the points in a 5 all match.
Sacriston Aces lead division 2 with 27 points, followed by North Fire on 23 and Old England on 22. Waldemar Dzwonkowski upheld his unbeaten record in helping Aces to a 9-1 victory over Mortimer. North Fire beat Cramlington Cobras 8-2 when Bob Appley and Frank Lasek won their 3 singles each and combined in the doubles to beat Cobras’ pairing of Gareth Pearson and Duncan Wraight. Old England were a player short and lost 3-6 against Ouston A. Chris Walton won his 3 singles for Ouston.
Dave McAllister, another unbeaten player to date, contributed largely in Lanchester’s 6-4 victory over Matfen A, in Division 3, through his 3 singles wins plus the doubles with Sam Grimes. Sacriston Comets lost their home match 3-7 against Whitley Chapel largely due to 3 singles wins from Whitley’s Stephen Oxley and Stefan Sobell. Cramlington Corinthians beat Cramlington Knights 8-2 with Paul Jamieson and Lynsey Storey getting 6 of those points with their singles victories.
There were 3 6-4 victories in Division 4 when Ouston B beat Sacriston Desperadoes; Brandon and Byshottles beat NESLC; and Cramlington Magpies lost to Cramlington Jaguars. Sacriston Chargers beat NECA “B” drew 5-5. Chung Yan Ho won is 3 singles and combined in a doubles win with John Gallagher for NECA.
