League Update 29th July
Cramlington Stingers and Springwell kept up their winning ways at the top of the first division of the Northumbria Summer League, both winning 8 - 2  against Seaburn Dene and Cramlington Casuals. Dale Aitkenhead and Mark Christie were both unbeaten for the Stingers and Graeme Barella did likewise for Springwell.
Matfen A defeated Birtley 8 – 2 in the second division and then had a narrow 6 – 4 success against Sacriston Bombers. Alex Holliday and Dave Swan won all of their matches at Birtley but were both beaten by Sacriston’s young star Peter Smallcombe. They go into second place behind Old England who have two matches in hand. The Bombers and NECA, 7 – 3 victors against Cramlington Cobras are  still in the promotion race.
Charlie Mouzon and Alan Livingstone won all of their sets for Springwell B who crushed Whitley Chapel 9 – 1 to keep in touch with the third division leaders, Lanchester. 
Brinkburn are also still in the race to go up and a hat-trick from Dave Cutler along with two sets each by Dave Bannon and Jamie Westwater saw them account for Matfen B 8 – 2
Cramlington Corinthians team of Pauline Long, Adrian Barnes and Gus Poole guaranteed themselves of promotion from Division four when they defeated their club rivals, Jaguars 8 – 2, Long and Poole winning all of their singles.
Debbie and Nikki Irwin were both unbeaten for Sacriston Comets who beat Lanchester B 9 – 1 and now only need two points from their remaining matches to go up.
Adam Webster was the player of the match for Cramlington Lions in division five with three singles and the doubles partnered by Alfie Stokes to help his team to a 6 – 4 win over Brandon Devils. Will Lindsey and Abbey Maddison both got two for the losers.
