League update 21st June

Sacriston Comets and Cramlington Corinthians, the two unbeaten teams in Division 4, met at Sacriston in week 6. Pauline Long gained “player of the match” award winning her 3 singles. Sam Nair and Adrian Barnes each won 2 of their matches to take Corinthians to a 7-3 victory and top of the division. The Lanchester B team of Liam Ord, John Cook and Adam Butler retained their third place position with a 10-0 victory over Sacriston Chargers. The Brandon B team of Jamie and Paul Upton together with Caroline Green beat Cramlington Jaguars 6-4, though no one could beat Ryan Morton who won his 3 matches for the visitors. 

 In division one Springwell A and Cramlington Stingers each have 38 points with Springwell in first place on countback. Springwell beat Seaburn Dene 10-0 and Stingers gained a 6-4 away victory at St Chads who are in third place. 

 Old England, division 2 leaders, gained a 6-4 home victory over Matfen A through Jake Helm and Joe Muldowney each winning their 3 singles. Second placed North East Chinese Association proved too strong for Sacriston Bombers with an 8-2 victory. Chen Zuan and Yi Zou each won their 3 singles. Bombers’ Peter Smallcombe beat Xiao Huang and with Dan Hutchinson beat the Chinese doubles pair.   

 In the third division Lanchester A, Springwell B and  Brinkburn occupy the top 3 places with 48, 44 and 41 points respectively. Lanchester, away at Byker B won 7-3; Springwell, away at Matfen B were held to a 5-5 draw and Brinkburn had a 10-0 home victory over Ouston B. Simon Knopf won his 3 matches for Brandon A in their 7-3 away victory at Whitley Chapel. 

 Matfen C, Division 5 leaders now have a 9 point lead over second placed Cramlington Magpies. The other two Cramlington junior teams Knights and Lions,  are in third and fourth places.
