Cramlington Stingers and Springwell A were neck in neck at the top of division 1 prior to their meeting in the last match of the first half of the Northumbria Summer League. In a closely contested match Stingers, the home team, won 6-4 to take their points tally to 44, two more than Springwell. Not surprisingly Stinger’s Andrew Wilkinson won his 3 matches plus the doubles with Dale Aitkenhead. Stingers Iain Wood and Aitkenhead each beat Tony Gelder but lost to Jim Stamas and John Wilkinson for Springwell.
Old England with 46 points and North East Chinese Association on 45 points head division 2, though NECA have played one more match.
Springwell’s B team are also doing well with 50 points in Division 3 gaining them second place to the Durham team Lanchester A who have amassed 55 point to lead the division.
Cramlington Corinthians, on 54 points, top division 4 a full 10 points ahead of Sacriston Comets.
In Division 5 Matfen C are run away leaders, on 55 points, followed by Cramlington Magpies with 42.
