North East Sports and Leisure Club Eagles team of Jim Stamas, Richard Wilson and Paul Baines are setting the pace in the Premier Division of the Northumbria League having won all of their first five matches, their latest success being 6 – 4 over the Chinese Association although none of them could beat Chun Yin Yu. Saint Chads are now in second spot after beating Cramlington Casuals 7 - 3 who were without Andrew Wilkinson because of illness. Saints young player Josh Weatherby beat both Steve Penman and Gary Sangster as well as partnering Chris Blake to victory in the doubles. 

Barry Hill and Bob Atwell were both on form for North Fire with unbeaten performances to beat Riding Mill B 8 – 2 and stay on the heels of the Mill’s A team at the top of Division One. Cramlington Tigers are in third place after a hat-trick from Lee Eadington helped them to keep their unbeaten record as they drew with Springwell C.

Sacriston Aces have already opened up a big lead at the top of Division two, their latest success being 8 – 2 over the Chinese C team when young Max Duffin won all of his matches and Duncan Fraser and Dan Hutchinson both got two. 

Division Three Ouston B team’s new player Neil Wilkinson got off to a good start with an unbeaten performance away to Cramlington Corinthians as his team won 8 – 2 and are the leaders in this division. He was backed up by Tom Fowle and Jeff McKenna who got two each as did young Adam Webster for the losers.

The Ouston club tasted success in Division Four when their C team retained their 100% record with a 6 – 4 defeat of second placed Newton C, Dave Nicholls winning all of his sets.
