League Update 3rd February
N.E.S.L.C. Eagles recovered from their defeat at the hands of Byker to draw level with Cramlington Casuals  at the top of the Premier Division table by beating Springwell B 8 – 2 , Jim Stamas and Richard Wilson both winning all of their matches. 
At the other end of the table the South Shields outfit Unionist Club gained their first win of the season with a 6 – 4 success over a weakened Newton side with Micky Grimes and Dave Cutler both having unexpected victories over Anthony Ainley.
The top of the table battle in Division One between North Fire and Cramlington Tigers was convincingly won by the visitors with Ronnie Scott in fine form. Barry Hill did well for the home side to beat Peter Smallcombe and Lee Eadington but the Tigers ran out 8 – 2 victors.
Riding Mill B side of Mark O’Connor, Peter Stempczyk and Shirley Gelder are in third spot but after beating North East Chinese Association B 10 – 0 and are only five points behind the leaders with a game in hand.
Division Two   sides  Newton B and Matfen B shared the points with Dave Lucas winning all of his matches for Newton and Alex Holliday and Dave Swan getting two each for their Tynedale rivals.
Ouston B had Tom Fowle to thank for winning all of his sets and giving them a 6 – 4 win over Brandon Anacondas who had strengthened their team by bringing in Paul Dale in Division Three. Saints stayed in the promotion hunt by beating YMCA N.Tyneside B 9 – 1 but Old England FATTS remain in top place after Whitley Chapel conceded to them.
In division four second placed Newton C lost at home to third placed Cramlington Lions who had Mike Jones unbeaten and Joe Hastings grabbing two sets.
