League Update 20th of January
The Northumbria League Premier Division leaders Cramlington Casuals had a hard match with Cramlington Stingers.   After Kevin Wilson defeated Gary Sangster in the first match, Andrew Wilkinson easily beat Iain Wood.  David Graham then got the better of Mark Christie only for Sangster to level matters by beating Wood. Wood and Wilson combined to beat Wilkinson and Christie in the doubles to put the Stingers ahead again and Wilson extended their lead by beating Christie.
The leaders then hit back with Wilkinson completing a hat trick, Christie just edging out Wood and Sangster narrowly defeating Graham to see the Casuals home 6 – 4.
Their lead at the top of the table, however, was cut to four points as NESLC Eagles team of Paul Baines, Jim Stamas and Richard Wilson ran out 10 – 0 victors over Cramlington Reivers.
Micky Bull and Bob Atwell were both unbeaten for  North Fire who beat Ouston A  8 – 2 to stay one point ahead of Cramlington Tigers at the top of Division One. The Tigers had a similar success over Old England Jacks with Lee Eadington and Peter Smallcombe undefeated.
The North East Chinese Association side of Mark Patterson, Robin Francis, Dave Craddock and Kit Robinson( who played in the doubles) stayed in the Division Two promotion race by beating Cramlington Trojans 6 – 4 although none of them could beat Alastair Johnson.
Third division leaders, Ouston B lost for the first time despite Tom Fowle winning all of his sets when they went down 4 – 6 to third placed Saints for whom Vince Killen and Tom Marley both won two.
Elliott Dorrington was man of the match, winning  all of his sets  in Division four when the  Magpies drew with the Jaguars for whom John Murrells and Aubrey Drapkin got two each.
