League Update 9th March
Division 4 leaders Ouston C suffered a rare defeat this week at the hands of Cramlington jaguars who included League Chairman Aubrey Drapkin. With the match tied at 4-4 going into the last 2 games the Jaguars John Murrells beat Derekn Knapp by three games to one setting up Steve Round to go for the victory in the last game of the match between the two number one's. He did not disappoint and despatched Jamie Milroy 3-1 after having lost the first and then winning the next three. The second placed team Cramlington Lions could not capitalise on the leaders defeat to narrow the gap at the top as they also lost 4-6 in a club derby against the Ravens.Tim Bryce was man of the match for the Ravens winning his 3 being supported by Will Capps and Mackenzie Clark getting one each and also combining to win the doubles. 
In the Premier Division with the match between the Casuals and NESLC Eagles being postponed it was Byker A took full advantage and moved up to 3rd place in the Division with a 7-3 win over the weakened Cramlington stingers side of Kevin Wilson, Iain Wood and stand in Paul Jamieson. With the match poised at 3 all Byker won the next 4 games in a row to seal victory with Christine Burke and Robert Reed getting one each and Dave Robson winning twice against Jamieson and Wilson giving him the man of the match award for the 13th time this season . 
The county Veterans team selected to play the second and final round of matches at Draycott is Dave Robson, Jim Stamas, Paul Baines & Karen Henry. 
Northumberland players featured in the Sundrland Closed table Tennis Tournament at Sandhills last week. In the open singles event our current Northumberland Champion Andrew Wilkinson was the winner and now holds both titles in the same year again. Other Northumberland players who were successful are Lynne Herrington winning the Ladies singles, Paul Baines winning the Veterans and Jimmy Scope winning and subsequently retaining the over 60's crown.
