The North East Chinese Association are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Premier Division of the Northumbria league this season after two new top class signings
in Nuradin Muktar from Stockton and Rotherham's Harry Saxton who is at Newcastle University. Along with their star man Chun Yin Yu ,ever improving junior Adam Webster as well as Sam Bailey from Cleveland they should certainly be challenging for honours this season.
Chun, Webster and Saxton visited the unbeaten Saint Chads side of Keith Weatherby, Jimmy Scope and Charlotte Weatherbyand came away with a 10 - 0 victory.
The clash between the two Mount teams saw the A side of Graeme Barella, Anthony Ainley and Phil Prady win without dropping a set to go top of the table.
Brandon Anacondas took over top spot in division two when Lee Tinkler, Paul Dale and Jamie Lupton triumphed 9 - 1 over Cramlington Trojans whose only success came when Blair Carmichael defeated Dale.
Saint Chads suffered a further set back when they visited a young third division side Cramlington Jaguars in the handicap cup and lost out 2 - 7, Daniel McManus and Jamie Hall making the most of their points start to win all of their sets.
Matfen Senators and Tyneside TTC B had a close fought cup encounter when two wins each from Alex Holliday and Neil Forsyth gave the Senators a 4 - 2 lead before Don Catley and John Carr levelled things at 4 - 4 leaving Holliday to play Jim Robertson in the deciding set. Robertson was on the brink of winning the match for the Tyneside club at 20 - 16 up in the second game having won the first but Holliday fought back to take it 22 -20 and went on to win the third 21 - 16 and put Matfen into the second round.
Other results in the cup saw Newton A defeat their C team 9 - 0, Ouston B win 8 - 1 away to Newton B and Old England FATTS triumph 6 - 3 over Ouston A.
