Table Tennis Parlour in Durham
TO ALL TABLE TENNIS CLUBS IN AND AROUND DURHAM CITY.
Dear All,
County Durham Sport, in conjunction with the management of Prince Bishops Shopping Centre in Durham City, have arranged for a Table Tennis England 'Ping Pong Parlour' to be provided adjacent to the M & Co shop, in what was formerly the BHS restaurant area. It will open on Monday, 5th November and have 3 tables from Table Tennis England and a further 2 from our Club, one of which will be used with a robot as part of a programme of activities being prepared by our Club Coach 'Ping Pong' Paul Henderson.
There is now over 30 Parlours in shopping centres nationwide. Whilst they are designed to provide an opportunity for the general public to play table tennis informally and socially in non-traditional settings, and to inspire people to get active and lead happier, healthier lifestyles, there is nevertheless an opportunity for local clubs to promote themselves and perhaps recruit new members from those who may wish to play more formally in a club setting and/or competitively in local leagues.
Further information about Ping Pong Parlours may be obtained from the Table Tennis England website:
Should you wish to get involved in providing activities at the Parlour, please let Paul Henderson or me know of your interest in the first instance (a DBS clearance and proof of insurance cover will be necessary). If you have Club leaflets/flyers for display and distribution, please let us have them.
Regards,
(Table Tennis) Tony Taylor
