League update 15th December

Northumbria Table Tennis League Weekly Report – 15 December 2019

In the Premier Division there was a straightforward 10-0 win for Prudhoe A over Matfen Senators, The Prudhoe team of Andrew Firrth, Andrew Benjamin and Peter Stempczk proved too strong for their Matfen opponents. The Cramlington Stingers came out of top in the game against Cramlington Casuals. Nigel Rodgers and Lewis Cadden were both unbeaten for the Stingers winning their three games and Steve Pearce won two games. Only James Bradbury offered any resistances for the Casuals winning one game. Mount C defeated Old England Jacks 7-3 with Baily Pye, Dave Cutler and Rod Roberts all winning two games for Cramlington; Jake Helm was player of the match despite being on the losing side after winning his three games. 

In Division 1 Newton A had a 7-3 win over Cramlington Tigers. Newton’s John Russell, Dave Lucas and John Henderson all won two games each as well as the doubles to secure the win. Cramlington’s Jimmy Scope was player of the match as he won his three games. Tyneside A had a 7-3 win over Brandon Anacondas, Tyneside’s Mark Kimberley was player of the match winning three games, with Mark Patterson two games and Rob Lawson one game. NECA B had two games in the week and being unable to field a full team in either game lost both. In the first game they lost 8-2 to Mount D with Justin Tetlow winning three games supported by Ethan Brown and Shirley who both won two games each. In the second game they lost 9-1 to Matfen Centurions with Chris Kilsby and Stephen Oxley both winning three games each.

In Division 2 Mount E maintained top spot after a 6-4 win over Tyneside B. Charlie Mouzon and Alan Livingstone both won two games each and Mick Hope one game with Mouzonand Livingstone pairing up to win the doubles. Player of the match went to Tyneside’s Dean Eadington who won his three games. Old England Crocks keep up the pressure in second spot after a 6-4 win against Cramlington Trojans. Alan Atkinson and Brian Bateman both won two games each and Joe Perrin one game with Atkinson and Bateman pairing up to win the doubles. Player of the match went to Cramlington’s Israel Shoedinde who won his three games. Ouston B beat Cramlington Swifts 6-4 with Michael Lyons, Mark Rodgers and Jeff McKenna all wining two games each for Ouston; Richard Williamson won two games and Jamie Hall one for Cramlington. The game between Cramlington Reivers and Ouston C ended in a 5-5 draw. The Cramlington team had taken a 4-2 lead but then singles’ wins from Jamie Milroy, Harry Veitch and Shirley Robson put Oustn into a 5-4 lead. Bernie McArdle won the final singles game for Cramlington to secure the draw and player of the match as he won his three games.

The top two teams in Division 3 both had straightforward wins this week. Top placed Mount F had a 9-1 win over Tyneside C. Mount’s Michael Bradley and William Edwardsboth won three games each and Jamaal Akhtar won two games. The consolation point for Tyneside was gained by Leo Conn who beat Akhtar. Second placed Brandon Braveheartshad a 9-1 win over Saints. Brandon’s Paul Dale and John Spencer both won three games each and Alan Perry won two games. The consolation point for Saints was gained by Steve Dawson who beat Perry. Newton B had an 8-2 win over Matfen Cohorts. Newton’s John Henderson and Toby Loweboth won three games each and Tom Manuel won two games. The consolation points for Matfen were gained by Mark Perrin who beat Manuel and they won the doubles. Cramlington Jaguars had two games in the week and lost both 7-3. In the first game they played Matfen Whitley Sobell with Matfen’s Stefan Sobell player of the match winning three games. In the second game they played Saints where Saints Steve Dawson and John Cook both won three games each.

In Division 4 Cramlington Dragons had a straightforward 10-0 win over Cramlington Knights with the Dragons team of Pauline Long, Stephen Baxter and Paul Athey proving too strong for their opponents. Cramlington Dynamos had an 8-2 win over Cramlington Magpies with Alan Roskilly gaining player of the match after winning his three games for the Dynamos. Tony Roskilly and Rohan Rawat won two games each for the Dynamos. Cramlington Lions had a 7-3 win over the Cramlington Colts with Freddie McKenna and John McKenna both winning three games each.
