Northumbria Table Tennis League Weekly Report – 14July 2019
In Division 1 a strong Mount A team overcame Prudhoe with a straightforward 10-0 win which put the Mount team back to top spot. The Mount team of Anth Barella, Dan Dodds and Jamie Dent proved too strong for the Prudhoe team. Matfen Senators secured their first win of the season when they beatBrandon Air 7-3. Alex Holiday was player of the match winning his three games for Matfen, with Neil Forsyth winning two and Stephen Oxley one game.
The top two teams in Division 2 maintained their positions at the top of the table. Mount B overcame Old England 8-2 with Dave Cutler player of the match winning his three games, supported by Tony Gelder who won three games and Alan Livingstone who won one game. Lynne Herrington and Alan Atkinson won a game each for Old England. North East Chinese Association recorded a straightforward 8-2 win over Backspin TTC A. Chun Yin Yu was player of the match winning his three games for NECA with Ken Lee and Terry Kwong winning two games each. Dave McAllister won two games for Backspin. In the third game of the week Tyneside TTC A overcame Newton 8-2. Mark Kimberley and Mark Patterson both won their three games supported by Bob Sanderson who own two games.
In Division 3 Cramlington Cobras maintained their unbeaten start to the season but were held to a 5-5 draw by bottom of the table Cramlington Spartans. Oliver Ho was again in fine form winning his three games for Cramlington Spartans overcoming three higher ranked players. Bernie McArdle and Blair Carmichael both won two games for the Cobras. WithMount C not playing Cramlington Trojans took the opportunity to move back into second place with a 6-4 win over Tyneside TTC B. Chas Robertson was player of the match winning his three games for Tyneside despite ending up on the losing side. The Cramlington win was secured by Phil Smith and Richard Williamson who won two games each and Anth Doyle who won one game. Brandon Bullets beat Matfen Tribunes 8-2. Paul Dale and Jamie Westwater both won their three games to secure the win for Brandon.
In Division 4 Cramlington Corinthians secured a straight forward 10-0 win over Cramlington Dynamos which keeps the Corinthians in top spot. The Corinthians team of Rob Lee, Sam Nair and Jamie Hall proved too strong for their opponents. Cramlington Ravens maintained second place with a 5-5 draw with Durham Comets who were in third place. Israel Shoedinde was again player of the match winning his three game, supported by Abdel Warayet who won one game. Peter Whitfield and Oliver Wilkinson won two games each for Durham. In their second game of the week Durham Comets overcame Backspin TTC B with an 8-2 win. Peter Whitfield was again in good form winning his three games and was supported by Oliver Wilkinson and Harry Veitch who won two games each
In Division 5 Matfen Cohorts extended their lead at the top of the division with a straightforward 10-0 win over Cramlington Knights. Richard Rayfield, David Crompton and Linda Pinkham proved too strong for their opponents. Cramlington Jaguars keep up the pressure on Matfen with a 7-3 win over Ouston B. The Cramlington team of Mick Sursham, Abdel Warayet, and Gavin Wilson all won two games each. Ian Cumpson was player of the match winning his three games despite being on the losing side for Ouston. In their second game of the week Outson B had a straightforward win over Cramlington Magpies with Ian Cumpson again being player of the match winning his three games.
