Northumbria Table Tennis League Weekly Report – 24November 2019
In the Premier Division there was a straightforward 10-0 win for NECA A over Matfen Senators where the NECA team of Adam Webster, Lee Tinkler and David Byers proving too strong for their opponents. Cramlington Casuals had a good 7-3 win over Mount A with Duncan Wraight player of the match for Cramlington winning his three games supported by Iain Wood and Gareth Pearson who both won two games each. In the all Mount game between Mount C and Mount B, the C team came out on top with a 6-4 win. Bailey Pye was player of the match for the B team winning three games, he was supported by Dave Cutler and Rod Roberts who won one game each. In a close game between Prudhoe A and Cramlington Stingers the Prudhoe team came out on top with a 6-4 win. Mark O’Connor was player of the match for Prudhoe winning three games with Andrew Firth winning two games and Peter Stempczyk wining one game.
In Division 1 with Newcastle University not playing this week Tyneside A took the opportunity to move back into top spot with a 6-4 win over Ouston A. The Tyneside points came from two wins for Mark Kimberley, two for Rob Lawson and one for Mark Patterson with Kimberley and Patterson combing to win the doubles, but player of the match was Ouston’s Neil Wilkinson who won three games but ended up on the losing side. Newton A had a good 8-2 win over Brandon Anacondas which moved them into third place. Graeme Bell was player of the match for Newton winning three games with two wins apiece for John Russell and David Lucas. Matfen Centurions had a good week as played twice and won both games. The first game was a 7-3 win away to Brandon Anacondas and then a 6-4 home win against Mitford. Chris Kilsby was player of the match in both games winning three games against Brandon and two against Mitford. Newton had a second game in the week as well but unfortunately couldn’t repeat their performance from the first game and suffered a 6-4 defeat in a close game to Mount D. The Mount players Justin Tetlow, Alan Livingstone and Lee Eadington all won two games each.
In Division 2 Mount E went back to top of the table after a straightforward 8-2 win over Matfen Tribunes. Alan Livingstone and Charlie Mouzon both won their three games with Michael Hope winning two. The all Cramlington game between Cramlington Trojans and Cramlington Falcons ended in a 5-5 draw. Israel Shoedinde was player of the match for the Trojans in a game which went back and forward between the two teams and went down to the last game which saw Alfie Stokes beat Roy Hugill to secure the draw for the Falcons. Ouston B had a 6-4 win over Cramlington Reivers where the Ouston team of Michael Lyons, Duncan Hindmarshand Mark Rodgers all won two games each. Player of the match went to Cramlington’s Bernie McArdle who won his three games and maintains his unbeaten record in this division. There was a good away win for Cramlington Swifts against Tyneside B who have been on a good run of form recently. Cramlington Swifts won 7-3 thanks to Alistair Johnson who won three games, Richard Williamson two games and Phil Teah-Smith one game. Ouston C beat Cramlington Spartans 6-4 with Harry Veitch player of the match winning three games and supported by Jamie Milroy with two wins and Andy Harris with one win.
In Division 3 there was a straightforward 10-0 win for Mount F over Matfen Cohorts which moved Mount back to top spot. The Mount team of John Rowell, Michael Bradley and Jamaal Akhtar proved too strong for their Matfen opponents. There was another 10-0 win in the week when Cramlington Cobras defeated Ouston D. The Cramlington team of James Ainsley, Steve Ralph and Joe Hastings all wining their three games. Tyneside B had a 7-3 win over Cramlington Jaguars with Paul Conn and Leo Conn both winning their three games for Tyneside and combining to win the doubles.
In Division 4 there was just one game this week which saw Cramlington Lions beat Cramlington Magpies 8-2. Steve Gibson and Ojas Aggarwal both won three games for the Lions.
