Northumbria Table Tennis League Weekly Report – 13October 2019
Another straightforward win for top-placed St Chads this week in the Premier division. Their team of Keith Weatherby, Chris Blake and Paul Baines proved too strong for their Cramlington Stingers opponents winning 10-0. Despite fielding a strong team Mount B were unable to match NECA A as they went down to a 9-1 defeat. Adam Webster and Andrew Wilkinson were unbeaten for NECA. The consolation point for Mount was gained by Dave Robson when he beat Lee Tinkler. Cramlington Casuals edged out Prudhoe in a close game winning 6-4. Iain Wood was player of the match winning three games and was supported by Nigel Rodgers with two wins and Gareth Pearson with one win. In the all Mount game Mount A overcame Mount C with a 7-3 win. Graeme Barella was player of the match winning three games.
In Division one Mitford TTC overcame Prudhoe B with a 6-4 win in a close game. Dale Aitkenhead playing his first match of the season for Mitford was player of the match winning three games, he was supported by Karen Henry and Bob Atwell who both won one game each. The Prudhoe wins came from Peter Stempczyk and Ryan Campbell. Mount D beat Tyneside TTC A 7-3 thanks to three wins for Justin Tetlow and two wins each for Mohinder Rawat and Shirley Gelder; the Tyneside points came from Mark Kimberley. Despite only fielding two players Newcastle University beat NECA B 6-4 thanks to Jeremy Hamshaw with three wins and Jack Formby with two wins. Newton A proved too strong for Matfen Centurions as they won 7-3, John Russell was player of the match for Newton winning three games and was supported by Graeme Bell and Tom Manuel who both won two games each.
In Division 2 Mount E moved into top spot with a 7-3 win over Ouston B, Alan Livingstone was player of the match winning three games. There was 5-5 draw between Ouston C and Cramlington Falcons with Ouston’s Duncan Hindmarsh proving too strong for the Falcons team winning three games.There was a straightforward 9-1 win for Tyneside TTC B over Cramlington Trojans, Jim Robertson and Dean Eadington proving too strong for the younger Cramlington team as they both won their three games. The consolidation win for Cramlington was gained by Israel Shoedinde when he beat James Moore. Old England Crocks overcame Cramlington Reivers with a 6-4 win. The Old England team of Joe Perrin, Barry Matthews and Nigel Coe all contributed with wins but player of the match went to Cramlington’s Bernie McArdle despite being on the losing side as he won three games. There was a straightforward 8-2 win for Cramlington Spartans over Matfen Tribunes. Rob Lee and Sree Kanakala both proved too strong for their opponent each winning three games and were supported by Jamie Hall who won two games.
In Division 3 Brandon Bravehearts lost their unbeaten start to the season as they could only draw 5-5 with Mount F. Jamie Westwater was player of the match for Brandon winning three games and was supported by Paul Dale who won two games. Mount’s John Rowell, Mick Bradley and William Edwards all contributed wins to secure the draw. There was a 7-3 win for Matfen Cohorts over Ouston D, Richard Rayfield, Linda Pinkham and David Compton all won two games to secure the win for Matfen. In the all Cramlington game Cramlington Jaguars edged out Cramlington Cobras with a 6-4 win. The Jaguars went into a 5-2 lead but then wins from Alan Hedley and Steve Ralph for the Cobras pulled it back to 5-4 but a win for Adbel Warayet over Joe Hastings in the final end secured the win for the Jaguars. Matfen Whitley Chapel beat Newton B 6-4 thanks to Stefan Sobell who won his three games and supported by Pete Seago and Mark Perrin with one win each.
In Division 4 there was just one game this week which saw Cramlington Colts beat Cramlington Magpies 8-2. The Colts Sam Carter was player of the match winning three games withAndrew Rutherford and Noah Rutherford both winning two games. The Magpies’ wins both came from Sara Haddi who won close games against Andrew Rutherford and Noah Rutherford.
