Update 22nd September

2020/21 Winter league

For the first time we held the Annual General Meeting via a Zoom call instead of in person. This worked reasonably well although we know that some clubs tried to join but couldn't; sorry about that and we'll try and sort the technology for next time. For those clubs who attended there was a good discussion on how best to re-start the Northumbria league.

We discussed those ideas in a committee meeting tonight and the consensus was that it will be difficult to re-start the league before xmas; today's Government announcements will not make that easier.

Therefore, to give clubs and players a little bit of certainty we have decided that we will aim to re-start the Northumbria league in early / mid January. This will of course be subject to Government and Table Tennis England guidance at the time, which we will monitor over the coming weeks.

We have had entries for 43 teams from 15 clubs which is only marginally down on last season, and we appreciate your commitment to the league. Our aim is to place those teams in leagues of 10 or 11 with each team only playing each other once. We will be in touch over the coming weeks to firm up players for each team so that we can plan the divisions and set up the league in TT365.

Running alongside the league fixtures we will also schedule a handicap cup competition for those teams who have entered.

Committee membership

At the AGM Mark Kimberley from Tyneside and Mark Gee from Cramlington were voted onto the committee. Mark Kimberley was appointed into the role of Northumbria league secretary and Mark Gee will be taking on the communications role covering TT365, Facebook and County web-page.

If anyone else is interested in getting involved in the work of the committee, then please get in touch with Gareth Pearson (Mobile: 07802 784746 or e:mail lggopearson@googlemail.com).
