In Division 1 Mount A moved into an unassailable position at the top of the league after an 8-2 win over Old England. Dave Robson was player of the match with three wins with Jamie Dent and Steve Penman winning two games each. Old England’s Neil Herrington won his games against Jamie Dent and Steve Penman, the latter was another close five end game. In their second game of the week Old England lost out to Cramlington Casuals who won 7-3. Cramlington’s James Bradbury and Nigel Rodgers both winning three games and combining to win the doubles. Cramlington Casuals also had two games in the week but lost the second game 8-2 against St Chads. Josh Weatherby and Keith Weatherby were both in good form winning their three games, with Charlotte Weatherby winning one game. In the final game of the week bottom placed Mount B recorded their first win of the season with a 6-4 victory over Prudhoe. Dave Cutler and Karen Henry both won two games and paired up to win the doubles with Alan Livingstone adding a win over John Henderson in a close five end game to secure the victory.
In Division 2 Brandon Anacondas took the opportunity to open up a gap at the top of the table after a 7-3 win over second placed Tyneside. Tyneside’s Mark Kimberley was player of the match despite being on the losing team winning his three games but the Brandon team of Steve Pattinson, Jamie Westwater and Ian Richardson all beat Tyneside’s Chas Robertson and Daniel Foster. The match between Durham City Scorpions and NECA who are chasing the top two teams was an even match which ended in a 5-5 draw. Durham City had taken a 4-1 lead with wins from Ian McAllister and Jon Mawson in the singles and doubles, but in the second half of the match NECA won 4 games to secure the draw. Ian McAllister won his third singles match to secure player of the match. Despite only going into the match against Mount C with two players Cramlington Swifts were able to secure a 6-4 win with Rob Lee winning his three games against John Rowell, Dave Swan and Michael Hope; Sam Nair added two wins and the pair won the doubles.
In Division 3 Brandon Bravehearts opened up a significant gap at the top of the table with a 10-0 win over Backspin A. The Brandon team of Paul Dale, David Brown and Phil Hansom proved too strong for their opponents. Second players Cramlington Tigers lost 7-3 to Brandon Fusion. In some close matches Brandon went into a 5-0 lead, Cramlington started to fight back in the second half but Brandon won two further games to secure the 7-3 win. The match between Stocksfield A and Backspin A ended in a 5-5 draw with Stocksfield’s Alex Holliday player of the match with three wins. The match between Backspin B and Stocksfield B also ended in a 5-5 draw with Backspin’s Alex Nicholl player of the match with three wins.
In Division 4 top of the table Cramlington Cobras had two matches in the week. the first game against Cramlington Dragons ended the Cobras 100% record as the game ended in a 5-5 draw. The Cobras Steve Ralph was player of the match with three wins but the Dragons secured the draw with wins from Adrian Barnes and Pauline Long against Alan Hedley and Mick Sursham. In their second game the Cobras returned to winning ways with a convincing 10-0 win against Backspin C. In their second game of the week Cramlington Dragons couldn’t maintain the same form as they lost 9-1 to Cramlington Dynamos. There were some close games in the match but the young Dynamos team of Daniel Gazerani-Lopez, Jonathan Javita-Calle and Callum French proved too strong for the Dragons with only Mark Gee from the Cobras able to secure in win in the final game of the night against Daniel Gazerani-Lopez. Cramlington Panthers had a n 8-2 win over Backpsin D with both Nikhil Smith and Jay Smith both winning three games and Callum French adding two wins.
