In the Premier Division NECA A consolidated top place after a convincing 10-0 win over Cramlington Stingers. The NECA team of Andrew Wilkinson, Adam Webster and Lee Tinkler proved too strong for their opponents, not losing an end all match. At the bottom of the table Prudhoe United Services A had a convincing 9-1 win over Tyneside A. Despite some close games Prudhoe came out on top with Mark O’Connor and Andrew Firth both winning three games. The result puts some pressure on Cramlington Stingers who are just above Prudhoe in the table. Cramlington Casuals had a good 7-3 win over Newcastle University. Duncan Wraight was player of the match winning three games against the University’s David Byers, Jeremy Hamshaw and James Krassowski. A 7-3 win for St Chads against Old England Jacks enabled St Chads to close the gap to Old England Jacks who remain in second place. Despite the result there were a number of close games with the highlight being the last game of the night between Keith Weatherby and Neil Herrington. Keith Weatherby took a 2-0 lead which Neil Herrington was able to pull back to 2-2 only for Keith Weatherby to edge the fifth end 12-0 and win the game.
In Division 1 Old England Nomads had a convincing 10-0 win over Prudhoe United Services B which saw Old England move into second place and create a small gap from Cramlington Falcons and Ouston A although the Falcons still have a game in hand. The Falcons and Ouston A played each other this week which turned out to be a close game which the Falcons edged with a 6-4 win. Oliver Ho was player of the match winning three games and Anth Doyle won two games just losing out in a close third game against Harry Veitch which could have gone either way. Mount C had an 8-2 win over Stocksfield with Dale Aitkenhead and Alan Livingstone both winning three games. NECA B had a convincing 9-1 win over Cramlington Tigers with the NECA players Ken Lee, Kit Robinson and Jamie Collins proving too strong for their opponents. The only exception the game between Lynsey Storey and Kit Robinson which was a close game which ended in a win for Lynsey after 5 ends.
In Division 2 Tyneside B had two games in the week winning both which saw them move to second place in the division. The first game was an 8-2 win over Cramlington Swifts, Chas Robertson won three games with Jim Robertson and James Moore both winning two games. Only the Swifts’ Richard Williamson was able to secure wins with victories over Jim Robertson and James Moore. The same Tyneside team played Ouston C and had a convincing 10-0 win. Ouston B keep up the pressure at the top of the table with a 5-5 draw against Cramlington Spartans. Leo Conn was player of the match for the Spartans winning two games and winning the doubles with Sam Nair who also won two singles games. There was an all-Cramlington games between Cramlington Reivers and Cramlington Swifts which the Swifts’ came out on top with a 6-4 win. The Swifts’ players Philip Teah-Smith, Richard Williamson and Steve Ralph all won two games but player of the match was Reivers’ Bernie McArdle who three games. Mount D had an 8-2 win against Stocksfield B, Joseph Miller was player of the match winning three games. Stocksfield’s points came from Pete Seago who beat Gary Anderson and Jon Evans with both games being very tight and going to five ends.
In Division 3 there were just two matches this week. A 5-5 draw between Stocksfield C and Cramlington Cobras saw the Stocksfield team move into second place in the league equal on points to the league leaders Tyneside C. This was a close game with Stefan Sobell and Richard Rayfield both winning two games for Stocksfield and Mark Perrin the fifth to gain the draw. There was an all Cramlington game between Cramlington Dynamos and Cramlington Lions which the Dynamos won 6-4. Daniel Gazerani-Lopez was player of the match winning three games for the Dynamos with Jonathan Javita-Calle winning two games. The Dynamos fielded an ineligible player which gave three wins to the Lions whose other win came from Freddie McKenna win over Jonathan Javita-Calle.
