In the Premier Division NECA A maintain top place after a convincing 10-0 win over Cramlington Casuals. The NECA team of Andrew Wilkinson, Martin Schapira and Lee Tinkler proved too strong for their opponents. The game of the night was between Duncan Wraight and Martin Schapira. Martin Schapira took a 2-0 lead but then a comeback from Duncan Wraight levelled it at 2 all only for Martin Schapira to win the fifth end 13-11. St Chads moved into second place with a convincing 10-0 win over Tyneside A. The St Chads team of Keith Weatherby, Chris Blake and Paul Baines proving too strong for the Tyneside team although Mark Kimberley pushed them hard taking ends against all St Chads players. In the game against Chris Blake he was 2-0 up only for Chris Blake to win the final three ends. The game between Mount A and Cramlington Stingers ended in a 5-5 draw. Mount had taken a 3-1 lead but the Stingers won the next four games to lead 5-3 but then Jimmy Scope and Ant Ainley won the last two games to secure the draw for their team.
In Division 1 there was just one match this week between Old England Nomads and Cramlington Tigers. Old England had a convincing 10-0 win as Lynne Herrington, Joe Perrin and Alan Atkinson proved too strong for their opponents. This win saw Old England go to the top of the division but they have played two games more than their nearest rivals.
In Division 3 there was just one match this week between the top two teams in the division. Saints beat Tyneside C 7-3 to go back to the top of the division and still have a game in hand over their rivals. However, the result doesn’t do justice to what was a close match with many of the games going to five ends. The Saints team of Steve Dawson, Tom Marley and John Cook all won two games but player of the match went to Tyneside’s John Carr who won three games who came back from 2-1 down in the games against Tom Marley and John Cook to win both in the fifth end.
