In the Premier Division NECA A maintained top place with a 7-3 win over Newcastle University. Andrew Wilkinson was player of the match winning three games and not dropping an end in the process. Adam Webster won two games although lost to the University’s Ben Savage in a close game who also defeated Lee Tinkler. Mount A had a straightforward 9-1 win over Prudhoe United Services A with Ant Ainley and Jamie Dent both winning three games and Jimmy Scope won two games, only losing to Prudhoe’s Mark O’Connor. Cramlington Casuals had an 8-2 win over Tyneside A with James Bradbury and Iain Wood both winning three games. Cramlington Stingers lost out in a close game against St Chads which had been evenly poised at 4-4 but St Chads won the last two games to win the match. Keith Weatherby was player of the match with three wins.
In Division 1 there was a top of the table clash between Mount B and Old England Nomads which was a close game that ended in a 5-5 draw. Mount had taken a 5-3 lead thanks to Lee Eadington who won his three games with Dean Eadington and Will McCallum both beating Alan Atkinson, the latter game was a very close five end game which Will McCallum clinched with a 13-11 win in the fifth end. However, Joe Perrin defeated Will McCallum and Lynne Herrington defeated Dean Eadington in the last two games to secure the draw. That result gave Ouston A the opportunity to move back into second place which they did with a 9-1 win over Prudhoe United Services B. Jonathan Mawson and Harry Veitch both won three games each and Thomas Fowle added two wins. The point for Prudhoe came from a Troy Maddison win over Thomas Fowle. Cramlington Falcons keep the pressure up on the teams above them with an 8-2 win against Mount C. Oliver Ho and Anth Doyle were both in good form winning three games each and combining to win the doubles. Alan Roskilly won the other game for Cramlington with a win against Michael Bradley in a five end game; although he lost out in equally close games to Karen Henry and Michael Hope. Stocksfield A closed the gap to the top teams with a 9-1 win over NECA B, Alex Holliday and Stephen Oxley both won three games with Neil Forsyth winning two games.
In Division 2 there was close game between the top two placed teams which Brandon Bravehearts edged with a 6-4 win over Ouston B to extend their lead at the top. Steve Pattinson was player of the match with three wins for Brandon, with Jamie Westwater winning two games and Phil Hansom one game. Harry Veitch had two wins for Ouston coming out on top in a five end game against Jamie Westwater and beating Phil Hansom. The Cramlington Spartans team of Sam Nair, Leo Conn and Paul Conn proved too strong for Ouston C with a 10-0 win. Stocksfield B had a 6-4 win over Cramlington Reivers with Nigel Tree, Pete Seago and Thomas Manuel all winning their games against Mike Dunn and Rob Swinburn. Cramlington’s Bernie McArdle was player of the match despite being on the losing side as he won his three games.
In Division 3 Tyneside C had two games this week and with two wins they moved ahead of Saints into first place in the division despite Saints winning their game this week. In their first game Tyneside C had a 6-4 win over Stocksfield C. Daniel Foster was player of the match winning three games for Tyneside with Don Catley winning two games. In their second game Tyneside C had an 8-2 win over Cramlington Cobras. This time John Carr was player of the match winning three games with Don Catley and Daniel Foster both winning two games. For Cramlington Joe Hastings beat Don Catley in a game that went to five ends with Joe winning 12-10 in the fifth, and Steve Ralph beat Daniel Foster in another close game. Saints had an 8-2 win over Cramlington Dragons. Tom Marley was player of the match winning three games with Ken Greatbatch and Robert Park both winning two games. For Cramlington Pauline Long beat Robert Park in a game that went to five ends with Pauline winning 12-10 in the fifth, and Mark Gee beat Ken Greatbatch in another close game. Stocksfield C had a 6-4 win over Cramlington Lions which keeps them in contention at the top of the table. Richard Rayfield was player of the match winning three games for Stocksfield with David Crompton winning two games and Mark Perrin one game. Freddie McKenna had two good wins over David Crompton and Mark Perrin; and John McKenna won a close game over Mark Perrin winning 11-9 in the fifth end.
